The Volunteer Program has an exciting lineup of trips in 2016, and we’re still looking for some curious and adventurous people to join us. From the very small (aquatic bugs and budding grasses) to the exceptionally large (a 2.4 million acre forest restoration project), we have a trip you’ll be sure to enjoy. Check them out and apply today!
When you join our May 18-22 greenstrips trip, you’ll learn some really cool science, and see the world in a whole new way: from very close up! But the data you gather will have far-reaching importance, as we work to combat cheatgrass on both the North Rim Ranches and, eventually, the entire western U.S.
Want to get in on the ground floor of the largest, most ambitious forest restoration project in history? Then join us on one of two trips to inventory creeks and streams as part of the Four Forests Restoration Initiative. We will explore year-round perennial streams June 15-18, and more elusive ephemeral streams September 19-23. Your work will have long-lasting importance across millions of acres of land.
Springs—diverse, rare, and threatened places—are to be cherished in the southwestern U.S. You can help us learn more about them as we work for their protection. Join us for our August 12-14 Spring Steward Training and learn specialized information to help land managers make important decisions. We will have opportunities for you to explore a wide variety of places on the Colorado Plateau—right away, and for a long time to come.
The federal government will determine if the charismatic blue bird should be listed as threatened or endangered.
