Ryan grew up in Oregon and excitedly moved to the Colorado Plateau by way of Colorado, South Dakota, and Tucson. He ended up in Flagstaff in the spring of 2014 and started work with the Trust later that year. His work began under the Trust’s Energy Program, shifted to the Water Program, and then came back to the energy realm, centering on curbing greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas development in the region. He holds a degree in Natural Resources Management from Colorado State University and is particularly interested in collaborative forest restoration, instream flow transactions, resource economics, endangered species preservation, and the energy landscape. Outside of work, he is likely to be found playing with the local Brazilian percussion ensemble, enjoying live music, running, caving, and exploring the Grand Canyon.
