A new poll paid for by the Grand Canyon Trust shows that protecting the Grand Canyon and utilizing it for outdoor recreation and conservation is an issue that appeals to most Arizona voters.
The poll was released on Tuesday and stated that over 52 percent of voters from around Arizona believe that more needs to be done to protect the air, land and water around the Grand Canyon.
The poll was done by two agencies with experience conducting polls for conflicting parties — Public Opinion Strategies for Republicans and FM3 Research for Democrats. The two joined forces to ensure the poll would be representative of the Arizona public.
“We saw throughout that it isn’t a partisan issue. It is an issue that Republicans, Democrats and everyone in between was in support of,” said David Metz, FM3 spokesperson. This lead issue was not presented as a yes or no option, instead allowing participants to say either “enough is being done” or “too much is being done to protect air, land and water around the Grand Canyon.”
