Split Mountain Campground is located on the Green River, about a half mile upstream from Green River Campground. With 4 group sites that can each accommodate up to 25 people and 6 vehicles, Split Mountain Campground is the perfect place for your next weekend campout or family reunion. It’s also located right next to the Split Mountain Boat Ramp, which is the take-out for river trips through Dinosaur National Monument.
The Green River slices through the appropriately named Split Mountain north of the campground and offers a glimpse of the region’s interesting geology. The Desert Voices Trail leaves from the boat ramp and features scenic views of the rock layers that form Split Mountain. Other nearby trails include the River Trail, which connects the two campgrounds, Sounds of Silence Trail, and Fossil Discovery Trail.
From Vernal, Utah, head east on US Highway 40 for about 13 miles to the small town of Jensen, Utah. Following signs for Dinosaur National Monument, turn left on UT 149. You arrive at the entrance station and visitor center in 10 miles. From here, continue straight on Club Creek Road. Park signs direct you to Split Mountain Campground, which is a few miles down the road on your left.
