Located on the sandy shores of the Colorado River, Grandstaff Campground has a beautiful backdrop of colorful sandstone walls. Unfortunately, its proximity to the highway drowns out sounds of the gently flowing river. Cottonwood and willow trees line the river corridor and offer small amounts of shade.
The campground has tent accessible sites, though some trailers can pull in just fine. From Grandstaff, you can walk across the street to the Grandstaff Trail. The popular Porcupine Rim mountain biking trail also joins the highway near the campground. Campsites fill quickly, so be sure to arrive early in the day to claim your spot.
Note: Grandstaff Campground has no water. You can fill your water jugs at Lions Park (intersection of Hwy 191 and UT 128) near the pedestrian bridge dedication plaque, or at Gearheads Outdoor Store in downtown Moab.
From the visitor center in Moab, Utah, drive north on Hwy 191/Main Street for about 2.5 miles. Turn right onto UT 128, and continue upcanyon for another 3.5 miles. Just past the Negro Bill Canyon trailhead, you arrive at Grandstaff Campground on your left.
