A string of campgrounds links two of Utah’s natural treasures — Capitol Reef National Park and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Pleasant Creek Campground, the second forest service campground heading south along UT 12, is a perfect overnight stop for any road trip.
Ponderosa pines separate the campsites, and if you get there early, you might be able to snag a site with creek access. Bring your fishing gear and cast for trout in Pleasant Creek or nearby Lower Bowns Reservoir (2 miles east of the campground). Trailers over 25 feet are not recommended for this campground.
Nearby Attractions
Both Capitol Reef National Park and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument offer hiking and scenic driving opportunities. You can also find multiple mountain biking trails in Dixie National Forest, along with access to the Great Western Trail, a 4,445-mile route that connects the northern and southern U.S. borders and travels through Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.
From Torrey, Utah, head south on UT 12 for about 17 miles. The campground is located on the left side of the road. From Boulder, Utah, head north on UT 12 for 18 miles. The campground is on your right.
