Frankie started her Northern Arizona University degree in music journalism in 2010 but soon discovered that her passions lie in grassroots advocacy and local and regional politics. Through her undergraduate education and beyond, Frankie worked with a handful of local advocacy and political organizations, including Friends of Flagstaff’s Future and the Flagstaff Livable Wage Coalition. She was the Trust’s Citizen Advocacy Coordinator as an AmeriCorps service member in 2014-2015 and helped communicate our work, especially that of the Energy Program, to local citizens from southern Utah to northern Arizona. Frankie helped organize Uplift 2015 and dreams that the conservation movement can become a more intersectional movement that includes the perspectives and voices of young people like her. She’s working on a master’s program in Sustainable Communities at NAU and will continue to incorporate her community organizing background into the conservation and social justice movements. Frankie’s version of a perfect day on the Colorado Plateau includes riding her bike through the wildflowers around the peaks in Flagstaff.
