Moonflower Campground

Moonflower Campground is a group camping area outside a few miles from Moab, Utah

Set against sandstone cliffs and butting up against the Colorado River, Moonflower Campground is typical of other Bureau of Land Management campgrounds in the area.

The single group site, which accommodates 20-25 people and 10 vehicles, is located in the mouth of a small box canyon and tributary of the Colorado River. Kane Creek Road separates the camping area from the main river. Plan on parking in the sandy lot just off the road and carrying your gear a short ways up the tributary.

Cottonwood trees shade the banks of the wash, and nicely spaced sites offer privacy from neighbors.

Note: Moonflower Campground has no water. You can fill your water jugs at Lions Park (intersection of Hwy 191 and UT 128) near the pedestrian bridge dedication plaque, or at Gearheads Outdoor Store in downtown Moab.

Directions to the campground

From the visitor center in Moab, Utah, drive south on Main Street for about 5 blocks. When you reach a stoplight near McDonald’s, turn right onto Kane Creek Blvd. Keep left at the intersection with 500 W, and continue following the road as it bends left at the Colorado River. Moonflower Campground is three miles down Kane Creek Blvd on the left side of the road.
