Don’t let the goblins spook you at night when you stay at Goblin Valley Campground

Set among two-tone sandstone cliffs, Goblin Valley State Park Campground is a remote and beautiful place to stay while exploring the park or nearby San Rafael Swell. All the sites have shade structures and picnic tables, along with views of the Entrada Sandstone that erodes into mystical formations. They also have two yurts available for reservation.

Kids will love the army of goblins, and the 1.5-mile Entrada Canyon trail starts from the campground and takes you to the heart of the park—the Valley of the Goblins. Enjoy wandering around these eerie hoodoos during the day and be back at your campsite for dinner. Two other trails, Curtis Bench and Carmel Canyon, provide an additional 3.6 miles of hiking trails.

The San Rafael Swell is just a few miles away, another one of Utah’s geologic marvels. This 75-mile-long sandstone dome provides countless recreational opportunities, including mountain biking, hiking, climbing, and rafting.

Directions

From Hanksville, Utah, drive 19.5 miles north on UT 24. Just past mile marker 136, turn left onto Temple Mountain Road, following the sign towards I-70, Goblin Valley, and Temple Mountain. Drive 5 miles along this road before reaching the turnoff to Goblin Valley State Park, Bell, and Little Wild Horse Canyons.

Reset your odometer, and turn left at the junction. About 6.5 miles down this road, you arrive at the park visitor center and pay station. Continue straight ahead, and turn right at the stop. The campground is just a little ways down the road, on the left side.
