Looking for camping near Moab? Try Big Bend Campground
Finding a camping spot along the Colorado River during Moab’s peak season can be challenging, but the farther you travel up River Road the more likely you are to snag a riverside campsite. Big Bend Campground, about 8 miles up canyon, is one of the bigger camping areas with first come, first served sites and 3 group sites that you can reserve.
While Big Bend has few amenities, it sits on an extremely scenic meander of the Colorado River. Several sites boast river access, and the campground also has a nice sandy beach available for picnicking or sunbathing.
Big Bend Bouldering Area is across the street and attracts dedicated climbers and families alike. Having been established by legendary climbers, some of the routes are quite difficult for their grade.
Note: Big Bend Campground has no water. You can fill your water jugs at Lions Park (intersection of Hwy 191 and UT 128) near the pedestrian bridge dedication plaque, or at Gearheads Outdoor Store in downtown Moab.
