In 2017, President Trump unlawfully slashed Bears Ears National Monument by 85 percent.
Please urge your representatives to support and co-sponsor the BEARS Act, which would enlarge Bears Ears National Monument to 1.9 million acres, because:
- Two-thirds of Western voters oppose the president's monumental rollbacks.
- The authors of the BEARS Act did what the current administration refused to do — they consulted with the five tribes of the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition.
- The Bears Ears landscape spans thousands of years of human history and encompasses some of our country's finest cultural resources.
- Trump's shrunken units leave more than a million acres of previously protected land vulnerable to mining, drilling, and other destructive uses.
- A new management plan for the 15 percent of Bears Ears that remains after the president’s unlawful reduction in many cases would provide weaker protections than if no monument had been designated.
*If your representatives have already signed on as co-sponsors, please thank them!
