The Trust is producing a film that tells the story of the Greater Canyonlands region.

The American people face a unique opportunity to protect a vast intact landscape that is both magnificent and intimate in character.

Our film documents the long human history of the region, how people translated their love of these spectacular lands into action to create Canyonlands National Park in 1964, and the ongoing battle to keep industrial development from polluting and fragmenting this landscape today.

Please help us fund the completion of our broadcast quality film so we can reach millions of Americans to gain support for protection of the Greater Canyonlands region.

Crew and partners

The Grand Canyon Trust has partnered with Emmy Award winning filmmaker Debra Anderson of Red Rock Pictures to produce our Greater Canyonlands documentary film. Ms. Anderson’s film Split Estate effectively broke the story about the health impacts of fracking and natural gas drilling to a U.S. television audience and has been widely used for public education by activists in the eastern U.S. affected by natural gas development in the Marcellus shale.

Emmy Award winning actor Ty Burrell will narrate the film.

Michael Stearns, musician, composer, film composer, sound designer and soundtrack producer for large format films, theatrical films, documentaries, commercials, and themed attractions will provide musical direction and produce the soundtrack.

Five-time Emmy Award winning composer Tom Hedden is creating original music for the film.

Renowned photographer Tom Till is providing still images for the production.

Emmy and Peabody Award winning cinematographer and filmmaker Doug Crawford is another partner on this film project as well as Academy Award winning time-lapse cinematographer Bill Mitchell.

The volunteer-based environmental aviation organization Lighthawk has flown missions for our film production and provided a helicopter flight for our aerial shoot, thanks to pilot Bernard Gateau.
