Brian Andersen, a 25-year-old Prescott College student, mountain guide, and Uplift leadership team member, will be co-leading an Uplift workshop on wilderness and wildness. He loves the Colorado Plateau and believes that "everyone needs to experience the magic of the natural world to be inspired to protect it." His biggest concern for the future of our planet is that young people will become evermore connected to their technological gadgets, losing an important relationship with nature. As he watches glaciers shrink before his eyes on the mountains where he guides, he sees that a future of climate change requires action.
Wilderness motivates everything I do, from my professional aspirations to trying to take action and protect it.
In his various capacities as outreach coordinator for the Arizona Wilderness Coalition, mountain guide on Mount Shasta, and college student majoring in Adventure Education, Brian strives to share his passion and enthusiasm for the wild world with people young and old.
Brian is excited for Uplift because he wants young people to "be empowered to make a difference." He wants the youth of today to raise their voices.
