Our goals for protecting southern Utah’s wildlands...

Anticipated major cccomplishments for 2013–2014:

  • Existing conservation voices are united and new conservation constituencies are cultivated in southern Utah communities, creating a strong network of support and a vocal constituency acting on public lands issues.
  • Mapping has been completed to unify southern Utah’s forest wilderness proposals; legislative drafting and a sponsorship drive are underway.
  • The ecological integrity and wildness of southeastern Utah’s public lands are better protected through new Forest Service and BLM wilderness, state/federal land trades, and/or other protective Congressional designations.
  • Working on individual National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects and in the larger context of forest travel, resource, and recreation planning, we will ensure that  interim administrative protections are secured on critical conservation lands before they can be protected by Congress.
